DESKTOP SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

KLAS-TV Channel 8 has an immediate opening for a Desktop Support Technician. This position provides support for end-users and maintains the organization’s desktop computer environment, including installation, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and upgrades on all PC hardware and software applications.  Will troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required.  The position requires a candidate who is able to learn new technologies and software quickly.

SALES ASSISTANT – Responsible for general administrative support duties in a fast-paced television sales and marketing department. Candidates must possess proficient data entry computer skills and must have intermediate to advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. NEWS WEB PRODUCER

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the Internet as well as a passion for news, especially breaking news. Must write clear and easy to understand copy and headlines for the website. Experience:

Serve as the news web point-person for websites. Produce, write and technically coordinate getting news content online. Transcribe news story copy from broadcast copy form to web copy form. Define and suggest necessary techniques to innovate digital news delivery (web). Add text, images, audio and video content to websites (mirror the on-air experience); edit video for website. Check websites for quality. Work closely with news producers and reporters on web content; work closely with Web Coordinator. Find new ways for us to connect with our audience online. Troubleshoot issues with hosting, streaming, content management systems, and our staff’s use of web systems. Administer, support and train staff on web related systems and processes. NEWS PHOTOGRAPHER

Position Summary: The Photographer is responsible for videotaping various news events and editing tape for daily news broadcasts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Functions as staff photographer, creatively shooting and editing video of daily general assignments and spot news stories.

Effectively use existing technology to enhance story coverage. Operate ENG Van and microwave equipment. Other duties as assigned (i.e. performing studio camera work when needed, taking direction and implementing any changes as required by supervisors)

Minimum Qualifications: All must be met to be considered:

High school graduate or GED required. College degree preferred. Video photography courses or seminars a plus. Three years experience in all phases of news photography and editing. Understanding of technological aspects of television news gathering.

We are searching for a Business Manager who can lead a stellar team of business professionals in the activities of the Business office. This includes month-end close through financial statement preparation with accompanying variance analysis.

The position also includes monthly forecasts for the station, including work with department heads and the general manager on a regular basis to review cost controls, purchasing and other matters as necessary. In addition you will manage the annual budgeting and strategic planning process.

However in addition we are looking for someone who can motivate, earn respect for their staff as well as the rest of the management team including the GM and other department heads by maintaining constant dialogue with them and helping them manage the financial aspects of their departments and the station overall.

Requirements

  • Four year degree in Accounting/Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of three to five years broadcasting accounting management experience in a medium sized market preferred.
  • Demonstrable and verifiable ability to be a team leader with a successful track record of working with your peers, GM and Corporate managers is very desirable.
  • Wide Orbit, ADP and Oracle system knowledge would be helpful but not a requirement.

The right person will have to be a great motivator and have the ability to hit the ground at full speed. In addition, they will need to create a collegial working environment with the other department heads; have good analytical thought process; interpersonal skills; accountability; respect for confidentiality.
